Throughout this document, you may be using a 2wire 2700HG-B wireless router, but this tutorial may even apply to different routers that 2wire provides to AT&T. The first thing to do when organizing your 2-wire DSL router is to plug the DSL filters into all the jacks on your phone, the place where you want to have a phone. In one of the many DSL filters, it is better to see a twin filter that says Phone and DSL / HPNA, on the facet that says DSL / HPNA plug a phone line into this port, then run the other end of the phone line on the phone port on the back of the 2-wire DSL router.
After you have linked the phone line, plug an ethernet cable into port 1 of the router, then connect the other end of the ethernet cable to your PC. After making the connections between your PC and the DSL modem, and the DSL modem and filter. You can then plug in the power adapter to the router, and then plug the capacity adapter into the power outlet.
As soon as the 2-wire DSL router is turned on, it is better to see an inexperienced light after power, Ethernet and DSL. Once you see these lights go inexperienced on your 2-wire router, the next thing you can do is open an online browser similar to Web Explorer. After opening your web browser, you should see a window similar to the one shown below. Once you see this window, press the next button, which should then ask you to get the 2wire DSL setup tool.exe file.
Once you have installed the 2wire DSL Configuration Tool, the 2wire Gateway Authentication screen should open, just select the Yes button. I recommend setting a password with upper and lower case, with some numbers for security reasons. This password will be useful if you are trying to modify the configuration of your 2-wire router. To enter the router sooner or later to vary any setting, just type 192.168.1.254 into your internet browser.
Once you have set a password on your router, click the button below to begin registering your 2-wire modem with AT&T. Once you have registered your router, read the agreement and then click the I agree button. Once you have accepted the agreement with AT&T SBC Yahoo DSL, you must create a consumer title and password on your DSL account. To start organizing your new personal ID and password, enter your landline number that you obtained from AT&T.
Once you’ve created your new username and password, there will be another progress screen, then click the Finish button. Once you have completed the steps about, turn off your current browser and restart your computer, this can solve any community problems. After restarting your laptop, open your web browser and surf the web together with your AT&T 2wire DSL router.
In case you are busy with port forwarding on your 2-wire router, open a web browser and type 192.168.1.254 in the URL address bar. Once you’ve clicked the Submit button, a window similar to the one shown below should appear. The password you just created above for your 2wire router would be the one you use here when modifying the settings on your 2wire DSL router.
