False Hair Straighteners and GHD Vs Cloud Nine Hair

For many years, the Internet has been flooded with counterfeit watches, perfumes and, among them, have included hair straighteners. Manufacturers are increasingly able to protect their products through new emerging technologies.

An example of this are the Cloud Nine hair straighteners; Cloud Nine Hair has developed a range of straighteners to protect them, they have included an RFID chip inside each pair that makes them impossible to copy.

The cloud nine hair straighteners have a traditional hologram, which has become easy to counterfeit in the last five years.

GHD straighteners did not meet this with counterfeit copies available through online stores. There is not much to say between a pair of fake or real GHD irons. Only that user reported that they didn’t last as long as a pair of GHDs. I have an original pair that I bought three years ago and they are still going strong. The only problem was changing the fuse a couple of times on a pair of otherwise great straighteners.

So what is RFID technology?

RFID it short stands for Radio Frequency Identification. The acronym refers to a small electronic device that consists of a small chip and an antenna. The chip carries data and when scanned it provides a unique serial code.

Electronics manufacturers store all factory codes and can track the shelf life of a product. The benefits are that the product cannot be copied, all the user needs to do to verify that their connection to Cloud Nine is to contact them to find out if it correlates to the master manufacturing list.

If a counterfeit occurs on the surface, the straighteners will look and feel the same with the hologram. It is important that the buyer purchases their pair of straighteners from an approved and reputable hairdressing dealer. I would recommend avoiding auction sites and sites without a helpline or tracking number. When comparing deals, local salons can still find products that go together to offer good deals to their customers. Check with the salon that they are an authorized reseller beforehand.
