Fun Vs Entertainment – Which One Are You Going To Have?
So what is the difference between fun and entertainment? To put it bluntly, fun is for more ambitious people.
Here is an excerpt from one of my favorite books. The new psychocybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.
In David Mamet’s charming film, State and main, released in early 2001, a young woman with a happy outlook strikes up a conversation with a big-city writer, somewhat baffled by her small-town life. “Are you having fun yourself?” he asks. “It’s only fun if you do it,” he explains patiently. “If someone else does it for you, it’s entertainment.” Similarly, we can create our own happiness because we can choose our own thoughts and even choose our own image, and we are advised to do so rather than depending on someone else to do it.
Watching soccer is entertainment, playing soccer is fun. Watching the Travel channel is entertainment, traveling is fun. Are you starting to get an idea?
When you think of the comparison between “fun and entertainment”, you automatically think of television. I love watching TV and movies as much as anyone else, but with innovations like DVR and Hulu, it makes it easier to bundle up your TV viewing time and eliminate those periods of channel browsing where you’re sitting on the couch without no clear. show to see. See how I increased my productivity in one day to kick the canal surfing habit.
Delving deeper into the topic of television, I decided to do some research and see how much time Americans spend watching television. I concluded that The average American watches 14 years of television in their lifetime! Here is what I did:
Average television viewing time per day: 4.5 hours.
Average life expectancy: 77.7 years
365 days a year
365 x 4.5 = 1642.5 hours of television per year
1,642 x 77.7 = 127,622.25 total hours of TV
127,622.25 / 24 (hours in a day) = 5,317 days watching television
5,317 / 365 = 14.56 years of TV.
There it is, ladies and gentlemen, hard and cold math. If you are concerned about the source, only Google’s life expectancy and the average time you spend watching TV. It should be the first or second result in both searches.
