Gamefly Vs Gamerang – What is REALLY the best rental service?

Few will argue that when it comes to online game rental, the two most widely used services are Gamefly and Gamerang. Both companies have a well-established business and an ever-growing member base. However, which company is best for you? Well, it depends on a number of factors. First of all, what exactly are you looking for in a game rental service? Let’s go over some of the most frequently observed features and compare them side by side.

Game titles

In this category, Gamefly wins with more than 6000 titles and continues to grow. Gamefly has a little over 4,500. However, sometimes all that matters is which one has the latest games. In that sense, both companies are aware of the new releases and the most popular games. That being said, some games are appreciated later in life. However, by having 1500 more titles than Gamerang, Gamefly is more likely to have the title you are looking for rather than waiting for someone else to finish the game you want while you wait in line.

Turn around time

In the past, Gamerang stole many Gamefly customers for the simple fact that Gamefly only had one distribution center compared to Gamerang’s four. This meant that response times were much longer for Gamefly as games had to travel much further. For people on the East Coast, Gamefly took longer because it was based in California. However, seeing this as a growing problem, Gamefly added three distribution centers to link Gamerang. Gamerang’s distribution centers are located in California, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Minnesota. Gamefly has distribution centers in California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Florida. At this point there is a tie and I am sure more centers will appear. For now, assume that any of the services will provide you with a new game in 4-7 days after you mailed yours.

Price!

One of the most important questions is how much will it cost? This is the current pricing structure for both:

Gamerang prices:

  • 1 set: $ 14.95 the first month and $ 17.50 each month thereafter.
  • 2 sets: flat fee of $ 24.95 per month
  • 3 games: $ 49.95 (with a $ 75 refundable deposit)
  • 4 games at $ 59.95 (with a $ 100 refundable deposit)

Gamefly prices:

  • 1 set: $ 8.95 the first month and $ 15.95 each month thereafter
  • 2 sets: $ 22.95 flat fee
  • 3 games: $ 29.95 (with a 60-day account)
  • 4 games: $ 36.95 (with a 60-day account)

In terms of prices, Gamefly outperforms Gamerang in all categories. Also, Gamefly has a 10-day free trial, while Gamerang does not. However, Gamerang comes with a free one-year subscription to Wired magazine. If it’s worth the extra cost, at least that’s something to count on.

Customer service

I heard that Gamerang has a longer track record of good customer service reputation than gamefly. However, Gamefly is getting strong in its attempt to curb this complaint. Whether or not Gamefly is up to date with their customer service now, Gamerang has a bigger positive response than Gamefly.

Gamerang wins due to a longer record.

general

Gamerang has great service to provide, but when lined up between pro and pro, Gamely simply has more. Now, with its Gamefly rewards program, customers are rewarded even more with incentives based on their length of membership. However, Gamerang accomplished one thing. When gamefly was mediocre service, Gamerang came in and stole much of the thunder with better service and faster deliveries. However, this made Gamefly even better because now they not only match Gamerang, but far surpass them.
