How to measure yourself for a trench coat

Are you thinking of buying a trench coat? They are definitely great jackets to have for many different reasons. However, before you go ahead and buy one, make sure you have your measurements noted down. Here’s how to measure yourself correctly.

arm length

Measuring your arm length is one of the most important steps you need to complete in order to get the right size trench coat for you. To get any measurement, you need to find a smooth tape measure. Using a regular tape measure won’t help because they don’t conform to the contours of your body, which can lead to incorrect measurements.

With the help of another person, measure down your arm as it hangs at the side of your body. Place the end of the tape measure at the bottom of your neck, in the middle, just where your neck meets your back. Move the tape measure down the side of your arm and measure to the back of the hand at the knuckles or the back of the hand.

Write down that measurement

Breast size

The next measurement you need for your trench coat is your overall chest size. You can take this measurement by simply measuring all the way around your joke. Once again, complete this step with the help of another.

Write down this measurement as well.

waist size

Finally, the last measurement that you will have to take for your trench coat is the total size of your waist. This is a measure you can do on your own if you don’t have someone else to do it for you. Just take the soft tape measure and measure around your waist where you wear your belt.

Write down this final measurement and you’re done.

You now have all the measurements you need to purchase the right size trench coat when you shop online or at your local motorcycle store.

Remember, it is important that you get the correct trench coat size measurements before making your purchase because it will simply save you money in the long run. How will it save you money? If you buy the wrong size the first time you make a purchase, you may need to pay shipping costs to return the trench coat for a new one. Obviously, this is something you want to avoid.

One thing to keep in mind as well is that you may need to add to your measurements. Oftentimes, retailers will require you to do this to allow room for clothing underneath.
