Interior lighting technique, advantages and disadvantages of some designs

Spring is a great time for home renovations and construction. People are remodeling their interior and exterior, implementing the ideas that went through their heads all winter. Since the time to work is now, perhaps it is finally time to change your home lighting design to manage mood, aesthetics, and energy consumption for the year ahead.

Especially with interior lighting, there are multiple options for replacing bulbs and systems that can be implemented from scratch. Such systems can dramatically change the design of a room or an interior, so understanding some of the different techniques will help you make the best decision for interior lighting. The following is a breakdown of the pros and cons of some popular interior lighting renovations and the impact they will have on a home.

Recessed lighting

Recessed lighting pushes the bulb towards the ceiling, allowing for softer, more indirect light. Installation can be done by any interior lighting or contractor company, and the results add a nice shine and elegance to your room; perfect for dining rooms, living rooms and kitchens.

Advantages: Recessed lighting allows for soft ambient light that relaxes the eyes. Also, since there are no pendant lights or chandeliers, there is no danger of them falling over in rooms with heavy traffic.

Cons: Installation requires a certain thickness in the ceiling and must meet building codes for insulation around the gap so that hot replacement bulbs do not create a fire hazard.

HE DIRECTED

The light emitting diode is one of the most recent advancements in interior lighting technology. The LED works through energy that is accelerated at high temperatures in small diodes. LED technology has been around for years, but only recently did it overcome a temperature barrier that had prevented its widespread commercial and home use.

Advantages: LED lights consume minimal amounts of energy to produce the same amount of light. LEDs also tend to last a long time, and the color of the light can sometimes be altered to change the mood of a room.

Cons: The biggest downside to LED lighting is its price. You’ll end up saving on bills in the long run, but installing the LED light will cost more than a simple bulb replacement. Weigh your profitability and long-term plans for this purchase.

Energy efficiency

Energy saving light designs have grown by leaps and bounds to offer a forward thinking and responsible alternative for homeowners. Labeled with the distinctive ENERGY Star mark, these energy-efficient options come in everything from fluorescent lamps to fluorescent light bulbs.

Advantages: Save money on energy bills while protecting the environment by using fewer resources. It almost matches the output of a standard incandescent light bulb.

Cons: Not as effective as LED (believed to be cheaper). Also, some fluorescent tubes are very fragile and can break easily.
