Isn’t that Lee Lovely?

The Rangers went up 2-1 after another classic postseason outing from Cliff Lee. Lee struck out 13 in the Bronx on Monday night to give the Rangers the series lead. The Rangers won 8-0 after scoring 6 runs in the Top 9. The Yankees had no answer as evidenced by most of the fans who left in the top of the ninth.

Josh Hamilton hit an early two-run homer off Andy Pettitte and started a six-run blast in the ninth with a leadoff double. Lee improved to 7-0 with a 1.26 ERA in eight postseason starts. Three of those wins have come against the mighty Yankees, including two in last year’s World Series for Philadelphia.

Pettitte only made one mistake and it was a dangling fastball over the middle of the plate that Josh Hamilton lobbed deep over the right-field wall, giving his team a 2-0 lead and all the advantage Cliff needed. Read. After the home run, Pettitte retired 20 of the Rangers’ next 23 batters.

Just another pitcher-dominated playoff game. Game 4 in the Bronx is scheduled for tonight at 8 pm when AJ Burnett takes the mound for the Yankees to take on the Rangers’ Tommy Hunter. No lines have been established at the time of this publication.

Games 4 and 5 will be played in New York. If there is a Game 7, Cliff Lee would be the starter and the Yankees don’t want to face Lee again. If the Rangers win tonight, good night, Yankees.
