materialistic maniac

The definition of a materialist is a person who is noticeably more concerned with material things than with spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values. It’s unfortunate that some people are like this. It’s just sad, because they usually miss out on what’s most important in life. It’s okay to be fashionable, but it shouldn’t be your main priority and above all things that really matter. The most important things in life are not seen, they are only felt.

There were a lot of materialistic girls in my high school growing up. It was a group of a lot of girls. They were all cocky, didn’t like anyone outside of their circle, and even talked about each other behind each other’s backs! These kinds of things happen when you are materialistic.

You become oblivious to the things that really matter. When you die it won’t matter what kind of bag you used with each outfit, how expensive your sunglasses are, that you have the latest Prada makeup bag, etc. What will matter is how you treated people, and if you loved with everything you have. Is this how you would like to be remembered? Oh, that girl loved Armani, and well, that’s it. Or do you want to be remembered as “that girl was so kind to everyone she met and she was such a loyal friend”? I know which one she would prefer.

Also, when you have children, many things that mattered to you before will not matter to you later. You will learn even more what is important and what is not. After having my son, I changed in some aspects. I’m not saying everyone is the same… that’s how I changed. I stopped preparing as much if I just went to the grocery store. I wore comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes. I stopped buying all the brand name stuff, because that extra money could go to something I really need, like baby food, diapers, wipes, and even myself; medicine, toilet paper, paper towels, more food, etc. You just grow bigger, and especially after this you can see someone materialistic a mile away!

So take a step back and look at your life. Are you nice to everyone you meet? (for the most part), keep an open mind, be understanding, and love everyone with all your heart. These sites can also be of some help!
