Selling on eBay: Do you need to open a PayPal account on eBay?

Have you ever wondered if I should use Paypal to accept payments on eBay?

If you’ve ever looked at an eBay listing, the seller is probably using Paypal as one of their payment methods. So, should you consider opening an account as well to be able to sell using this method?

Paypal is one of the most popular payment methods on eBay today. Probably because it is so easy to set up and allows buyers to pay each other securely online. The buyer feels safe because they are not giving their credit card or bank details directly to the seller, and the seller receives payment immediately.

It is very easy to set up an account. If you only plan to list a few things then it is probably best to set up a personal account for now, you can always upgrade to the business account at a later stage if you find that your eBay business is increasing.

Once your account is set up, it will need to be verified; otherwise, you will be limited to the amount of money you can send or withdraw from it. It also makes things a lot more difficult if you are trying to get your item published for international sale. Getting verified is a simple process, once you have set up your account, including bank details, Paypal will deposit a small amount of money into your account, then you need to inform them how much money they have invested so that you can confirm that it really is your account. You will also need to provide them with your phone number and address.

Once it’s set up, simply check the option on the eBay sellers page that you would like your buyer to have the option to pay you via Paypal, fill in your relevant details, and voila! Easy. Of course, it also helps that eBay owns Paypal, which makes the whole process much easier.
