Signs of Hypnosis – The Eyes

How to know if someone is hypnotized? There are several ways to do this, and here I want to focus on how you can tell just by looking at a person’s eyes (even if his eyes are closed). There are other ways to tell if a person has been hypnotized, and you can learn more about those ways at the end of the article, but for now, let’s take a look at the eyes.

There is more to the look of a person’s eyes than meets the eye. And while we often turn a blind eye to what’s going on in other people’s eyes, as a hypnotist, you absolutely should pay attention. (Enough of those puns.)

Crying eyes

Hypnotized people often have watery eyes. This is due to relaxation of the muscles that control the tear ducts. It’s not for emotional reasons.

Red eyes

Some people have bloodshot eyes when hypnotized. Again, this is due to relaxation of the eye muscles. The more relaxed these muscles are, the more blood flows into the eye and the redder the eyes become.

blink frequency

Hypnotized people blink less. At some point they stop blinking all together. To see that, of course, you need to assess how much they blink in the first place, while not hypnotized, but fully awake.

Pupil dilation

Pupils enlarge when hypnotized. Just as they grow under the influence of certain drugs (such as marijuana). This is again due to relaxation of the muscles that cause the pupils to dilate. (Interesting side note: If you see things you like, your pupils get bigger. If you see things you don’t like, they get smaller. If you stand in front of a mirror, you can imagine beautiful things. [like a hot girl or guy] and see if you can enlarge your pupils. It often doesn’t work the first time you try it, but with a little practice you can.)
