Who do you live for?

If you were to stop and evaluate your life, I mean really evaluate your life. Are you doing what you were born to do or are you doing what other people think you should be doing? There is no reason why you should allow other people to determine your destiny. Now, that doesn’t mean that you should never listen to the opinions of others, but what it does mean is that you shouldn’t sacrifice your purpose just to satisfy the opinions of others.

Too many of us have lived our lives according to the way others think we should live them. And that results in frustration, confusion, and a lack of satisfaction with life. And 20 years later, if we look back and realize that we missed a phenomenal opportunity to live the abundant life that has been divinely made available to us, then we cannot blame anyone but ourselves. And no one has to live with regret except us.

It is a sad reality that people live the way others think they should live, and it is also a sad reality that people die the way people think they should die. You might be thinking what does that mean? Well that means that since some people live the way people think they should live, they die with their gifts and dreams still in them. And that is unfortunate.

Life is too short to live as defined by others. Our lives were gifted to us. It was given to us so that we could live it in a way that was satisfactory to us. Not everyone will understand why we move in the direction we are moving. But as long as we do it under divine guidance, everything will work out.

So who are you living your life for? Are there things you still want to do that you haven’t done yet? Are they gifts that you are not using yet? Is there a business you would like to start? Is there a book you would like to write? Is there a beautiful country that you would like to visit? What does your future look like according to your wishes and dreams? Do things that make you happy, do things that bring you joy, and do things that make you look back on 20 years and say “I lived for myself. And I’m so glad I did!”
