Why do people start their own companies?
Do you think you know what motivates people to start their own businesses? I don’t claim to be an expert here, but I recently counted the results of 100 people’s responses on why they are looking to start one.
So, given the choice between more time with the family, the freedom to do what I want, be my own boss, or get rid of debt, what do you think was the most popular option? Were any of those your “big why”? They are all excellent reasons and all the reasons that I would choose at one point or another.
Bringing the rear is being my own boss. 15% chose to be their own boss. One thing to remember when trying to recruit these people is to show them how they can take control of their life and their goals. They are looking for control, show them they can take it. Emphasize that there are many growth opportunities and they can determine how much, how fast, etc.
The next was more time with the family with 18%. When hiring these people, be sure to focus on flexibility. Show them how they can take the opportunity to fit into your family’s schedule. A two-on-one with a successful colleague who works during school hours would be a great way to show it.
The freedom to do what I want was second with 28% of the vote. These are the people who need to see the huge income potential and the chances of earning the incentives. They want to have their cake and eat it too. They dream big, show them that everything is theirs to take. Show them that they can be free.
Finally, by a whopping 39%, debt was eliminated first. This really says a lot about our society right now. It implies that people have really gotten into financial trouble and are now seeking the freedom to go into debt. We have the opportunity to really help people here. Be sure to share your opportunity and resources on how you can leverage this extra income to achieve debt freedom.
We are so blessed to have the opportunity to help so many people. Don’t forget to find out your why. You need to know their motivation if you want to help them see their potential in their opportunity. If they don’t see it, nothing you can do will convince them.
