Your words are containers of power

Your words are containers of power. With the tongue we bless God and curse men. “From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things must not be so.” (James 3:9-10) What does that really mean? It is understandable that we should not curse our fellow man. However, any time you utter a negative word in jest, such as “You’re crazy,” it can inadvertently offend the recipient and become a curse.

Jesus Christ is the Word and He dwelt among us (John 1:1 – 5) He created everything by His Word and then took on the flesh and nature of man, in essence making His Words audible to mankind. There was no idle word spoken by Him. Every Word that came out of His mouth was specifically sent to do something. He spoke of healing, deliverance, teaching about the Kingdom of God, and compassion. His Words are containers of Power.

To those who honor the Word of God, the words become life! To those who sought to kill him, Jesus said:

“My word has no place in you. I speak what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.” (Elsewhere expands: your father the devil) (John 8: 37 – 38)

Those are sobering words! It makes you realize that unless you are completely and constantly involved in God’s Word, the words you speak are not the words you hear Him speak to you.

Okay, although you are not of the world, you are in it and you are influenced by it. The most important fact is that when Jesus spoke for the universe to exist, it did. When he spoke of healing, he was done. Everything he said came true!

“So will my word be that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will do what I want, and will prosper in that for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 56:11)

Likewise, whatever you and I say will come to pass! In other words, your words are spiritual containers of power. No matter what you say, there is a degree of power in it. The degree depends on the faith you put behind the words. If you speak healing, relaxing, comforting and loving words, they will achieve what you are believing for.

On the contrary, when you speak negative words of disbelief, condemnation, discouragement and fear, and you believe it, they will come to pass!

So be careful when you feel like telling someone what you think. Also, speak good things and health about yourself. Don’t think you’re going to get the flu just because it’s the season or because everyone around you has it! Speak healing Bible verses about yourself and your loved ones, apply a good dose of faith, thank the Lord for his Word that says:

“Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and have health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2)

Note that good thoughts produce good words which, in turn, produce good fruit:

“The good man, out of the good treasure of his heart brings out what is good; and the bad man, out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out what is evil; because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45) and:

“Every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it on the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36 – 37)

be encouraged! You really can make miracles happen by speaking God’s Word in faith about every situation in your life! Anytime you find yourself going off on tangents and speaking negative words, that’s okay. Tell the Lord you’re sorry and keep practicing speaking Life about yourself and others. God is good and he is ready to forgive!

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who does not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

It is food to start the day praying:

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasant before you, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” (Ps. 19:14)
