3 Simple Ways To Eat Your Dessert And Naturally Cure Your GERD (Acid Reflux)

People love to eat. That statement alone carries an interesting and amusing truth. People also love their sweets. A delicious ice cream cake, three scoops of your favorite ice cream, a delicious chocolate fondue and the list is piling up. The question is: “How can you naturally cure your GERD or acid reflux and enjoy dessert at the same time, especially when most sweets, by their very nature, are poorly combined and even form a lot of acid?”

It helps to be well informed.

Almost everyone, including me, enjoys a dessert once in a while (or probably very often?) The unfortunate thing is that one is unable to control their cravings for sweets and continues to consume them like there is no tomorrow. Much more, if you suffer from digestive disorders such as GERD, acid reflux and gastritis. There are three easy ways you can eat your dessert without having any stomach problems. The key to remember here, though, is that you can only enjoy again once you’ve entered a more alkaline state. The reason for this is that your body may be more equipped by then to handle it.

Once you’ve gotten past that phase:

1. Make it a habit to choose your dessert so that it goes well with your meal. — Whether you had a serving of steak and vegetable salad, or rice and vegetables along with a sweet potato, remember that your selection of sweets should match what you just ate. There is another article of mine that focuses on proper food pairing and discusses the different types of foods, along with the foods that can go together.

2. Wait as long as you can (at least 3 hours) after a well-combined meal before having your dessert. — We both know it’s not easy to do, especially when the scent of your favorite candy hits your nose! You may want to store your dessert a little longer inside your fridge or freezer if this is the case. Even though you had a good mix of meals, you still need to make sure your digestion doesn’t get upset by taking enough time between them. This is also good in case you don’t know if the dessert you’re eating is acid-forming.

3. Your next two meals should be at least 50% water-rich foods to help cleanse your digestive system. — This involves keeping track of what you ate for dessert (especially how much) and making sure your next two meal options contain fresh fruits and vegetables. Something necessary, if you want to maintain good digestion in your body.
