A Manly Barbarian Costume – Learn How To Make Your Own Now

Dress up for Halloween as a barbarian warrior It may seem complex or over the top, but believe me, by following these simple steps and tips, it will be easy and you will have one of the best Halloween costumes of any other barbarian, viking or ancient warrior wherever you go.

Starting from the bottom of the costume and working your way up, simply start by buying some animal print faux fur from a local store. What you need to do with this faux fur is to wrap it around your legs from ankle to knee on each leg. Hold this in place and have someone help you tie it to your legs with a leather trim or leather belt, any leather-like string will do.

Wrap each leg with the faux fur for a nice pattern. Tie this at the top, and there you have the simple barbarian warrior leg wrap. Top that off with classic brown sandals that match the brown of the leather straps and the bottom of your barbarian costume is ready. Simple as that!

Upgrading the costume, you now need to find a simple and inexpensive faux fur tunic. You can usually find them just about anywhere during the fall season and Halloween. But if you can’t find one, you can always make one by using any piece of brown faux fur and draping it over your chest and over one shoulder. Look more barbaric by tying leather cords around as you did on your legs and leaving the faux fur loose around the bottom and neck.

Tying leather cords around your neck will add a classic barbarian touch and make it look like you didn’t make this warrior costume last minute. Once you have the robe in place, you’re almost ready! The next thing you need is a wide brown belt, the wider the better. Place it right in the center of the tunic or coat, whatever you’re wearing. You can also add some vinyl string to this for details, or just a simple belt works too.

Once the belt is in place, you can move on to the arm cuffs, which are basically done the same way we did the leggings. You use brown faux fur again, cut short strips and place them on your arms from the elbows to the shoulders. Then tie them into place with the help of another person the same way we tied them to your legs leaving the leather strings dangling to help with your Barbaric-inspired look.

Now we move on to what we call the accessories of this manly barbarian costume. You will need to buy a great plastic sword or knife that you can find anywhere during this time of year with Halloween just around the corner. I would try to find one in a darker color that looks old and worn like they would have had in barbarian times, so no silver or shiny things.

You may also want to wear a headband or headpiece of some kind. The best way to do this is to once again use faux fur and leather bands and just do what feels right to you. Tie it around your head and hair, either wide or narrow, depending on the style you’re going for. And don’t forget that wild mane that barbarians are known for. If your hair isn’t crazy long yet, just buy yourself a wig and flesh it out a bit. Voila, barbarian hair!

Remember to have fun with this barbarian costume and improvise as much as you want because imagination is the key to this! Barbarian costumes allow your wild, uncivilized, animal side to shine, so dress up in your best animal skins, grab your sword, and attack some enemy tribes! And don’t forget the sweets while you’re there either!
