10. Oats. It is loaded with soluble fiber and will help lower cholesterol. Oats help fight colon cancer and heart disease. Sweeten your oatmeal with fruit, instead of sugar or cinnamon. You can even add honey if you still want more flavor.

11.Olive oil. There are “good fats” and “bad fats.” Your body needs a certain amount of “good fats.” Olive oil is a great source of those monounsaturated fats that your body needs.

12. Whole Grains. Diets that completely eliminate carbohydrates are not healthy. Your body needs some carbohydrates. You can get what you need by eating whole foods that have not been processed. Processed carbs have had all the nutrients stripped away. Just because you eat wheat bread doesn’t mean it’s “whole wheat.”

13. Lean meat. Turkey and lean beef boost the immune system and help build muscle. Salmon and tuna contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are “good fats” that your body needs. They also boost the immune system and are a great source of protein.

14. Low-fat dairy products. They help strengthen bones and burn unwanted body fat. Watch your portions and enjoy the benefits of a diet rich in calcium.
