How To Fix Your Wonky Washing Machine

Your washing machine will not work well all the time. Sooner or later, it will break. As soon as possible, anticipate problems and try to divert them or delay impending deterioration of your washing machine.

The following are some helpful tips that can help you fix your crooked washing machine:

1. If your washing machine won’t start

If your washing machine won’t beep or start no matter what you do, you may want to check your connection to the outlet first. If you do not unplug the washer, it could be affected during electrical storms. Also check the fuse box to make sure it works perfectly.

The most modern washing machines will not work properly when the washing machine drum does not close perfectly. Make sure it clicks into place if you close it. Try to check the door switch if it still works perfectly.

2. If your washer is not agitating or spinning

Most likely the problem is with the belt of the washing machine. Open the rear panel of the washing machine or where the motor is located. Check the belt. If there are signs of wear, you may need to buy a new belt to replace the old one. If the belt still looks good, try adjusting it. Wrap it around the engine properly. Do not wrap it tight or loose as this could prevent the drum from spinning or shaking.

3. If your washing machine makes a lot of noise when spinning.

Always check the balance of the loads. Be sure not to overcrowd the washer drum. Even out loads, especially if you are washing heavy items. Also check the platform that the washing machine stands on and make sure it is level. If the washer drum is not level, it will not work to spin clothes quietly.

Also check the washer for loose objects. If a button came loose on your clothes or loose change falls into the drum, they will likely rattle and make a lot of noise when the machine is in the spin cycle.

4. If your washing machine starts to smell bad.

The smell in your washing machine is most likely due to dirt, detergent residue, mold, and the hard minerals it contains. If you wash heavily soiled items frequently and use a lot of detergent to clean them, expect your washer to smell bad after a week.

One way to prevent this from happening is by regularly running an empty water cycle and adding a cup of distilled white vinegar. This will help loosen debris and dirt from the inside so you can easily wash it.
