New and exciting apps of 2011

2011 saw the arrival of a host of apps for iOS and Android devices, and for the past few months we’ve been introducing some great apps through our articles. We hope these articles really help new users to select apps for their devices. Let me introduce you to three new apps today.

My video diary: This application gives users the luxury of recording daily events with videos, audios and images. After launching the app, users can start writing their journal by simply tapping ‘Make an entry for today’. It guides them to the next screen where they can find Record Video Input, Record Audio Input, Upload Video / Photo, and Input File. It is really easy to use and does not need guidance, but there is a Help section for novice users. If users want privacy for their records, they can use the Password Protect option. However, after setting the password, it can be changed, but it cannot be deleted. My Video Diary is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (3rd generation), iPod Touch (4th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 3.2 or later. Please note that the device needs a camera for the user to record events. This app costs $ 2.99.

Promote: This is another cool app that was released at the end of the year and I think the name itself might suggest something about the app. Promotr helps users deal with their Flickr images. With this app, users can easily add their Flickr images to groups, tag them with the appropriate keywords, and add them to sets. To make your job a little easier, Promotr lets you do it with batches of images. However, users could not see the image in full screen. We think this is a must-have app for Flickr users. This application is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later. Promotr costs $ 4.99. This app is really slim (0.8MB) and doesn’t need time to load.

Wild: WildABLE is about exploring the unexplored beauty of nature. After launching this application, users must choose a character, male or female, to jump into action. It would show two circles at the bottom of the screen and by moving these circles users can start exploring. Besides the nice visuals, it also has a great sound effect to give that realistic feel. However, the size of WildABLE is only 25MB. Well, it is really a good app, but the developer needs to work on the description of the App Store to give some kind of information to the users. It also lacks a ‘Help’ section. This application is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later.

The apps listed here were released in December 2011, so they are fairly new. I don’t find any problems running them on my iOS 5 device and I think these apps would work fine in 2012. If you have any interesting suggestions, please contact us at Alpha Digits.
