Nokia 5310 Review – A dream phone for music lovers

Nokia Xpress music has stepped up and launched a new range of phones with a music player, so Sony Ericsson should be on the lookout for this new competition. At just under 10mm thick, it makes for a great ultra-slim phone, with its conservative design and 5-way navigation key and oversized standard keyboard making it a must-have phone.

The Nokia 5310 has three selected music keys located on the side of the screen and volume keys located along the edge. The Nokia 5310 comes in two colors, red and blue, and has an easy-to-hold earpiece. We think the styling is cool and we love the feel of the music phone. The phone is definitely small and light enough to be carried everywhere. The Nokia 5310 can be enjoyed even when it is turned off.

The 5310 is primarily a music phone, so it not only lets you play music and listen to the FM radio, but it also supports the use of an equalizer, playlists, and album art. The speaker is a bit quiet, so if possible, listen to the music through the stereo headphones that came with the phone, or there’s the option of wireless Bluetooth headphones.

The sound quality of the Nokia 5310 is perfect as the 5310 has an improved sound chip. One of the best things about this phone is that it has a decent amount of onboard memory (30 megabytes) but you would benefit if you bought a MicroSD memory card which you can buy up to 4 gigabytes, that’s enough for up to 1000 songs. MicroSD cards don’t cost too much money, a 4Giga-Byte card costs about £25. This is a good reason to go all out and get the maximum card available. This makes the 5310 just as good as a Sony walkman phone or dedicated MP3 player.

In addition to making calls and being an excellent music player, the 5310 has everything you’ll need from a non-3G phone: the camera has just enough 2-megapixels. It doesn’t have a flash, but it takes great pictures in good light. The high resolution screen is of very good quality. The 5310 uses EDGE technology and has built-in Opera Mini Browser and you can use it even if the phone is not 3G.

You can customize the phone and have downloaded wallpapers, animated screensavers, wallpapers and themes.

The phone has built-in games and the option to download games from Java.

The only fault with the 5310 is the battery life. Depending on how often you use the phone, you should get 1-2 days of use.

With most phones of this grade, this is usually the case. The Nokia 5310 is an exceptional phone, it has many features, it has a large LCD screen and an ultra slim handset. If you’re looking for a phone with longer battery life, try the SE W910i or the SE W810i.
