Rappelz game review

Rapplez is an MMORPG game along the lines of others like the very popular World of Warcraft. But unlike Blizzard’s mega-popular title, Rapplez is a free-to-play title that anyone can enjoy. Frankly, the best feature of Rapplez is that there is no monthly fee to pay and you can still play the game. Not only that, but you will be able to download all available patches to further enhance your Rappelz freeplay experience.

As with any other MMORPG, the first thing you need to do is create your on-screen avatar. There are three different races for you to choose from with 15 different classes on offer. This includes classes that specialize in magic, swords, axes, and more. If you’ve ever seen the Lord of the Rings movies, you might have an idea of the kind of characters you could create in Rappelz. Fortunately, you can choose to be a female or male main character. It’s always good to know that game developers are being more genre-friendly these days.

Once you’ve created your character, you’re ready to go and immediately immersed in the lush fantasy world of Rappelz. Graphically, the color palette used in Rappelz is more vibrant than the faded look of Shaiya (another free to play MMORPG). However, the controls are not as comfortable as in Shaiya because the movements of the characters are controlled only with the mouse. It would have been nice to control your character using the keyboard, as clicking the mouse can get repetitive, especially when used to control every move and action the character will perform throughout the game.

The first thing you’ll do in Rapplez is meet your tutor, who will walk you through the basics of the game. Your first task is to familiarize yourself with the game’s combat system. The combat is similar to other MMORPG games in that the enemies are already loaded on the game screen and all you have to do is eliminate them by clicking the left mouse button. As you progress, there is a chance that you can use the keyboard to initiate new abilities and magic that you have learned. I thought this was a great feature and that a combat system like this should be implemented in all RPGs. In my opinion, the turn-based system seen in other games seems outdated now.

Doing quests and jobs for NPCs (non-playable characters) is the main thing you’ll do in Rappelz. One thing I didn’t like about the map in Rappelz is that it is very small. It is also not very clear where you have to go next. It would have been more helpful if the map clearly marked where I needed to go next and not just highlighted a little blue dot among other little colored dots on the map.

The missions themselves are pretty straightforward and usually require killing a lot of enemies. As mentioned above, the combat system is quite fun, so leveling up in this game won’t feel like much of a chore. In my experience, the Rappelz community is not as active as the Shaiya community, but there is a chance to meet other players while playing. As always, you can choose to join a party or even fight against other players. The choice is yours if you want to be naughty or nice to your fellow players. Keep in mind that the game has rules that you have to follow, so don’t hit every player you see on the field or your account might get banned!
