The Mahindra Thar has a new suit

The legendary Mahindra Thar has recently been enhanced with the addition of a number of impressive features.

The Mahindra Thar is already known for its appeal as a more accessible off-road vehicle for adventure-seeking drivers on a slightly smaller budget. The Mahindra Thar, launched in 2010, left room for improvement, especially with regard to its layout and interior design.

The new Mahindra Thar boasts the much-welcomed upgrades, inside and out. The interior is now equipped with stylish and more supportive seats, steering wheel, gear stick, door attachments and air conditioning vents. It also sports a contemporary floor console (with ample cup holders), a secure (lockable) glove box, an excellent two-tone dash, and a three-module instrument cluster (with speedometer, fuel and temperature gauges, tachometer and a digital tripmeter and indicates when 4WD gear is used). Plus, there are decent tech features like a 12-volt charging dock and windshield defroster. The finish and interior quality have also been significantly improved.

The Thar’s exterior has been redesigned with a more exciting and modern appeal with features such as improved wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, improved side steps, clear lens headlamps and a reshaped hood. The general look of the Thar is more aggressive and is available in five color variations, whereas previously it was only available in red.

Added features; Like the rear diff lock it has further improved its off-road proficiency. The Mahindra Thar is more than capable of effortlessly handling almost any territory. It produces enough torque to haul it up steep inclines and get you out of muddy or muddy situations with considerable ease. The Thar prevents wheel spin and binding with added support from mechanical diff locks and 235/70/R16 tubeless tyres. The Thar offers a 44° approach angle, a 27° departure angle and a wonderful 60 liter fuel tank.

The Thar is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox and a BorgWarner transfer case. The engine is still a 2498cc CRDe, offering 247Nm of torque at 1800-2000rpm and 105PS at 3800rpm. In addition, the Thar has a ground clearance of 200mm and a wheelbase of 2430mm. The braking system includes 226mm front brake discs and 282mm rear brake drums.

The new Mahindra Thar is ideal for off-road adventures, family picnics and regular getaways, while remaining exceptional and attractive in urban environments. It’s an absolute 4X4, with a degree of ‘creature comfort’ and fantastic new features.
