How to install vinyl flooring

Laying vinyl flooring can instantly transform and modernize any room in your home. With many styles and colors to choose from, it’s easy to find the flooring you need to renovate your kitchen or bathroom. Vinyl flooring is the most cost effective flooring when it comes to purchasing and installing, because if you have the confidence, you can even lay this flooring yourself. Just follow this simple step-by-step guide.

1) It is best to remove old tiles when installing a new vinyl floor. It is always better to go back to basics. When you have removed all the floor, clean it well. Try to remove any bumps or bumps that may appear under your new flooring. If necessary, you may need to purchase some filler to ensure that your home floor has the smooth finish you are looking for.

2) Make sure to buy a special vinyl sticker. Vinyl flooring is already saving you money and we recommend that you don’t skimp on the adhesive. This is because a cheap adhesive can discolor the tiles and eventually cause them to come off, as it is not sticky. If you don’t want to buy any adhesives, you can always look for interlocking tiles.

3) Have the tile cutting tools you will need ready. When laying vinyl flooring, many people can use a tile cutter or even a very sharp knife. But if you think you may have an unsteady hand, you can always buy or rent a box cutter or vinyl tile cutter, this will help you shape your tiles into equal sizes to match your flooring design.

4) When it comes to laying their vinyl flooring, many people like to start in the middle of the room. But it is recommended that when it comes to laying vinyl flooring in your kitchen or bathroom, it is best to start on a wall and work your way up to cabinets or obstacles. That way, you can work on leveling the rest of the floor and letting the tile cut last. This is also useful, as you will know how many tiles you have to spare in case a mistake is made.

5) When working with adhesive, always apply it and leave it a couple of minutes for it to start to set and become very sticky. Always start at a corner and work in rows making sure each shingle is lined up with the next. To make sure the tile is flat, roll a roller across the tile to relieve air bubbles. When you have completed the entire floor where a full tile will fit, let the floor sit for a full 24 hours and do not let anyone walk on it.

6) Now you can start cutting tiles to fit in that pesky little hole you always have. It is important to remember to try to keep the uncut side of the tile next to all of the tile and the cut side against the wall or cabinet. To achieve an accurate measurement, turn the tile over and measure from the wall or cabinet to the tile it is to be attached to. Once you’ve measured this line, cut out the extra piece you don’t need and glue the tile in place, just like you did with the other tiles before. If it is necessary to cut two edges of the tile, follow the same rule of placing the uncut side next to the previously placed tile. Continue across the room until every floor space has been covered to create your new vinyl floors.
