music makes you move

Music is one of the great motivators… whether it’s exercising, just working out or dancing the night away… playing the right music can determine how much we enjoy what we’re doing.

Music can help you get in the “zone,” makes you want to move, and can lift your mood.

Why do we listen to music? Each generation has a different answer. Regardless of the answers, both generations can agree that it affects their well-being. This is accomplished in a number of ways… including emotional experiences and memories.

Maybe you’ve had a rough day and you’re relaxing on your couch with your headphones listening to the latest album from your favorite artist, or you’re working out.

Music can be so distracting from pain and fatigue that you don’t care about that spot on your side! It can elevate your mood and increase stamina. Playing an upbeat song can make you work harder, making the time you spend working out seem like it flew by.

There’s nothing like listening to Rocky’s (Gonna Fly Now), You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC or Eye of the Tiger by Survivor to get your adrenaline pumping!

While you’re doing yoga or studying, how about a quieter playlist, songs like Coldplay’s Yellow or Bob Marley’s Stir it Up?

How about dancing the night away to the latest from Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber? What a great way to hang out with friends, meet new people, and get some exercise! Dancing can even help improve your balance.

Some say that listening to soft music can slow people down while they eat, making them more aware of what and how much they eat.

Some people listen to music at work in an effort to focus on the task at hand (or just to block out the guy in the next cubicle who is constantly on the phone!) They say they are more efficient and can propose more ideas while listening to music as it improved their mood. However, there are some who feel that wearing headphones or earphones all day is perceived as rude and that people weren’t doing their jobs.

Regardless of what you listen to or where you are, there are so many options available in the way you listen to music. From Bluetooth speakers (also great for a backyard barbecue!), to Bluetooth headphones to use with your sports armband for your smartphone while walking or running while enjoying the great outdoors.
