Summer holidays in Northern Cyprus

A less ordinary life? Summer holidays in Northern Cyprus are like a lullaby before a dream. It is as if the Mediterranean wanted to keep this magnificent island a closely guarded secret, and many writers and critics have described it in glowing terms; ‘the hidden jewel of the Mediterranean crown’, ‘the Mediterranean as it used to be’, ‘a corner of heaven on earth’ … the list seems endless.

Cradled by the warm blue waters of the Mediterranean, the island’s north coast is protected by the magnificent Kyrenia mountain range. Inland, the majestic peaks provide protection and shelter, and are home to beautiful villages where time seems to have stood still forever. Of these, Bellapais is probably the best known. Home to a truly spectacular abbey, its narrow, winding streets are dotted with great places to eat. Bellapais was the home of writer Lawrence Durrell in the 1950s and was the setting for his funny and loving novel, Bitter Lemons of Cyprus.

Kyrenia itself is on the north coast and is a wonderful resort and area from which to explore the beauty of the island. Holidays in Kyrenia are a must and Kyrenia hotels have a lot to offer, especially in terms of variety. From huge resorts like Acapulco Cyprus, to small family-run hotels like Hideaway Cyprus, Pia Bella Hotel, and Altinkaya Hotel, the area is a treasure trove of places to stay. Not to mention the places to eat, as a vacation to Kyrenia wouldn’t be considered complete without visiting some of the many great restaurants and taverns it contains.

To the northeast of Cyprus is the Karpas peninsula. Even more intact than the rest of the island, since that seems even possible; here is a place of breathtaking scenic beauty. At about 80 kilometers long and up to 20 kilometers wide, the area is very sparsely populated. Here the wild donkeys roaming the land seem to outnumber the population, and those who like it here are scattered over small villages where even the most modern farmers think of a tractor as a novelty and are more likely to plow the land on horseback. -stretched machinery.

On the east coast, near the beginning of the Karpas, are the remains of the Roman city of Salamis. Almost unbelievable in the sheer scale of the site, there is still much to explore and excavate beneath the soft sands. However, the already visible amount that can be walked is impressive. A few kilometers from the coast you reach the town of Famagusta. The magnificent beaches here have long been enjoyed as a vacation spot for both locals and visitors to Northern Cyprus, and Famagusta hotels have become well known and loved by many.

Overall, Northern Cyprus has so much to offer visitors that it is almost impossible to describe the variety and sheer beauty of Northern Cyprus summer holidays. But one thing is for sure. Whether you visit Kyrenia, Bellapais, or one of the many other fabled locations, this is a place you will want to return to again and again. Take a vacation in Northern Cyprus soon. Rumor has it that they want Northern Cyprus back to heaven, and this is what the angels whisper!
