Cures and natural treatments to improve your vision

There are many people who need to wear glasses or contact lenses if they want to see something clearly. They use them to help correct their vision problems thinking they will always need them to see the world. However, many people don’t realize that there is actually an alternative, and its use is growing quite rapidly. They are turning their eyes to Mother Nature’s care with her offering of foods and herbs shown to improve eyesight.

Eye care specialists sing the praises of healthy antioxidants found in certain foods, as well as nutritional supplements. They have been shown to play a key role in preventing vision loss as well as keeping our bodies strong. More and more studies are identifying specific nutrients, by eye disease, that are lacking in patients with those diseases. Here are a few different ways you can start to improve your eye health through natural means:

  • A great way to improve your vision naturally is to eat a diet rich in antioxidants. You want foods rich in lutein and zeaxanthin specifically because they work to protect your retina from macular degeneration that is common during the aging process. Such foods include spinach, carrots, leafy green vegetables, corn, and eggs, all of which are excellent sources of these antioxidants. Cooking these foods in olive oil is even better for you because it increases your body’s absorption rate.
  • Another way to improve your vision is to drink lots of herbal teas. Certain teas like Wolfberry contain a high amount of carotenoids that have been shown to improve eye health. Chrysanthemum and mint teas are my two favorites and they are also full of antioxidants. Finally, try drinking Gingko biloba and eyebright to improve your overall vision by increasing blood circulation to your eyes.
  • Another easy way to improve the health of your eyes is to start taking pantothenic acid. This is a B vitamin that helps improve vision clarity in as little as one day. It is taken under the tongue and 300mg every morning has been shown to be best. Pantothenic acid works to increase your alertness, so it can affect your sleep patterns if taken too close to bedtime.
  • Reduce your chances of cataracts by taking vitamin E supplements. Eye specialists recommend supplements because it is more easily absorbed by the body, but it can be found in foods like peanuts or peanut oil.
  • Help your eyes by limiting the amount of UV rays they are exposed to. If you know you’re going to be spending a lot of time outside in the sun, wear a hat or sunglasses with a UV filter.
  • If you spend a lot of time online or working on a computer, it’s important to take a break from time to time. Take a few minutes from time to time to close them and relax.
  • Finally, my last piece of advice to start mixing natural fish oils into your diet. Most people do this simply by taking fish oil capsules, but you can also eat cold-water fish. These oils help improve your focus, see colors more vividly, improve your night vision, and work to correct nearsightedness and farsightedness.
