William Aloysius Keleher Legal Career
William Aloysius Keleher (1886-1972) became interested in the law while observing events at the Bernalillo Country Courthouse. He joined Washington and Lee University School of Law in Virginia in September 1913. After nearly two years (mid-1915), he received his Bachelor of Laws degree and was admitted to the Virginia Bar. New Mexico after a few months.
After graduating, William Keleher pursued law school and practiced it tirelessly. Eventually, he created a law firm that would one day become the oldest and most prestigious law firm in New Mexico. In 1929, he joined A. Howell McLeod and together they became New Mexico’s foremost trial attorneys. William’s sons (William B. Keleher and Thomas F. Keleher) chose to follow the same path, who practiced law in the family firm. His descendant, Michael, also carried on the family tradition by helping Keleher and McLeod grow. Today, the practice of law at Keleher & McLeod reflects that same dedication and passion, no doubt. Although the body of Keleher & McLeod. not connected to the family, William B.
